Hugo
In October, 2009 a bunny was brought to the pound as he had been making friends with all the locals and running free in the neighbourhood. One of the locals fearing for his safety had kindly brought him in to the pound, and to give him a chance at finding a new home a kind staff member brought him to rescue. He had a bad case of mites which he had picked up while roaming the streets, causing dandruff and thinning fur all along his back. He also had ear mites and all the itchiness had caused him an infection in his tear duct while scratching around his eye.

Hugo arrives with a puss filled eye and is covered in mites.
This boy was named Hugo, and he was absolutely Huge! One of the giant breeds, he weighed over 4.5kg. The first thing we did when he arrived was put Revolution on him, to kill all the mites in his ears and on his skin. His right infected eye was so bad he could not see out. From the pound he came with medication, and this we gave him three times a day. Every few hours the puss from his eye was cleaned with a saline solution, and two different eye ointments alternatively applied to soothe the irritation.

After a few weeks of constant care, Hugo made a full recovery. His dandruff cleared up, and new fur grew along his back to cover the baldness. Hugo could finally see through both eyes!
A lovely couple were looking for a desexed male companion for their female bunny, who gets to live free-range in the garden during the day, and is only locked-up at night for safety. They fell in love with Hugo, and he is now happily being very spoilt with love and attention!
